Authentic Cuban Accommodation
Welcome to Old Havana (La Habana Vieja)
About Me & My Home SIEMPRE HABANA
My name is Belkis and I'm a doctor, anaesthesiologist. Recently I started this new adventure in the world of tourism and I would be delighted if you chose to enjoy our beautiful city from Old Havana. I can't wait to meet you!
My colonial house SIEMPRE HABANA, meaning 'ALWAYS HAVANA', is located in the historical center, Old Havana, near the Capitol (Capitolio); the Squares of San Francisco, Armas, the Cathedral and Old Square (Plaza Vieja); the Bay or Havana Harbour (la Bahía) where you can stroll along the Malecón or from where you can take a ferry to access the historical sites of the Castle del Morro (Castillo de los Tres Reyes del Morro) and the Fortress (Fortaleza de San Carlos de la Cabaña); .
My house was built in 1910 and is very spacious, light-filled, well-ventilated and quiet. The house has amazingly high ceilings and tall elegant doors reflecting its beautiful colonial style.
In our house we will do our best to make you feel welcome and as a part of our family, while respecting your privacy. Your best choice for transport from the airport to SIEMPRE HABANA would be a taxi. The approximate fare is 30 CUC. Agree on the fare with the driver before getting the taxi.
In Old Havana you can move around by regular taxis and especially by fun bike-taxis that are cheap and fast. The area is well communicated by the near-by public transport: Buses or 'guaguas' as we Cubans call them, which can take you to different places of interest. We also have the collective taxis, the famous 'almendrones', which are the old classic cars from the 50's that are well maintained and very economical to travel to different suburbs of Havana. We can always advise you regarding the best transport option to get you to your place of interest.
Many tourists prefer to get to know our beautiful city walking. My house is in Habana Street, which runs all the way through Old Havana. You can reach in 10 to 15 minutes the most visited squares of Old Havana: Plaza Vieja, Plaza de San Francisco, Plaza de Armas and Plaza de la Catedral. The Capitol is a 15 minute walk away and El Chanchullero restaurant is 12 minutes away. This is the favourite restaurant of many tourists for its delicious food and yummy cocktails (mojitos for 3 euros !!). Taking a nice stroll down our street you will find the bustling Obispo Street, pedestrian street full of handicraft shops, Cuban art galleries, bars and restaurants with live music. This street ends at one of Hemingway's favorite bars, the Floridita.

"Belkis was the best first contact person in a new country we could have hoped for! Her wealth of information, dedication to her guests' well-being , generosity and her friendly personality haven't been surpassed in our 6 weeks of travelling around Cuba ...and also that was so much easier thanks to Belkis, as she helped us tremendously with arranging accommodation in other places around Cuba. We felt like a part of her family and my children absolutely adored Belkis and her family. I would highly recommend you to stay at her 'casa particular'. We hope we can come to visit you Belkis and the AMAZING Cuba again!" -- Zuzana, Australia
"Such an amazing woman and was such a great help to my boyfriend and I. Being in a foreign country she guided us around the town and told us the great places to visits. You would not regret staying here. Her house is clean, neat and very comfortable. You have your own seperate keys to your room and you can go out and in at any time. The area is safe and friendly people around the neighborhood. I would definitely be going back soon!" -- Maria, Florida, USA
“Incredible Host, Home & Experience: A tour guide helped us find this gem of home, hidden within the "old" side of Habana. We were so taken aback by how wonderful Sra. Belkis was- and how her whole family was so kind and thoughtful. We arrived late one night without having eaten dinner. The Senora's older son walked my friend and I to a local place where we could have dinner, and made sure we got home. (It's tough to get your bearings late at night on your first night, after a long day of travel!)
The two-bedroom room we stayed in was immaculate. The beds were beautifully made, the floor was shining, there was air-conditioning (BIG WIN) and she provided both soap and toilet paper. Sr. Belkis made us incredible, fresh breakfast each morning we stayed with her, and she was incredibly warm and hospitable. We spoke Spanish and she was a wealth of knowledge and one day we hope to be able to return the favor back state side!” -- Samantha, USA
"Belkis the host is a very hard working friendly and nice woman. The casa is in the old town so you feel like you're living in Havana. Belkis is a very nice woman in her mid-fifties. After I stayed there 3 times she started to feel a bit like a girlfriend. Nice clean rooms, good location, nice breakfast, and especially a nice hostess.” -- Helga, Netherlands
"Charming accommodation with lovely owner! We stayed here for four nights in January 2018. This is our second visit to Havana. Good location in old Havana, do not be put off by the exterior of the house. Very fresh and clean and the hostess who lives there, Belkis, a "lady" that makes you feel comfortable and gives tips as much as possible. We stayed in a large room with two large beds. Good breakfast every day.” -- Anders, Malmo, Sweden
